Momentum is the third chapter in Tectonic Drift, a condition where pressure is no longer held, but released. The work holds two states at once: diffusion and force. A boundary finally gives into the weight of chroma, a shift from silent accumulation to raw velocity.
Each release in Tectonic Drift becomes a record of movement, held at the point before it stabilises. Momentum captures the drop. When the timed edition closes, the moment seals.
The work begins with macro photography of pigment and medium under load, observing behaviour under pressure. It then moves through digital and generative iteration. A second set of rules reforms the image into pattern while magnifying that behaviour. The work lives in the overlap. The process is one of calibration, allowing pressure to register differently as it passes through these systems. The work is built to be read as behaviour: what persists, what resists, what shifts.
Hahnemühle Photo Rag Metallic; 340 gsm, 100% cotton. Natural white with a unique, silvery-shimmering metallic effect. Acid and lignin-free; ISO 9706 compliant for museum-quality longevity. Lucia Pro II Pigment Ink. Handle by the edges.
Please note that digital screens cannot perfectly replicate physical pigments; the print itself is the definitive reference for color and texture. Subtle variations in character are inherent.
Swedish Pine & Handcut Glass
The frames we use are customised to size and locally handmade. The structures are built from solid Swedish pine (furu); a stable, light wood chosen for its rigidity and even grain.
Note: Framed works are currently available for delivery within the European Union only.
Flush Mount
A traditional gallery-style configuration where the artwork is mounted directly against the glass. This creates a stable, low-profile presentation.
- Mounting: Flush mount (no air gap between print and glass).
- Glass: 2 mm float glass.
- Construction: Solid Swedish pine with a 15 mm (0.6 in) face and a 30 mm (1.2 in) depth.
- Archival Integrity: Assembled using acid-free adhesives and pH-neutral materials.
Premium Float
A museum-grade configuration where the print sits raised from the backing. This allows the paper edges to cast a shadow and creates a three-dimensional depth within the frame.
- Mounting: Professional float mount (3D shadow effect).
- Glass: Museum Glass. 2 mm hand-cut, UV-resistant, non-glare art glass. Protects the surface while maintaining absolute optical clarity and reducing reflections.
- Construction: Deep-profile shadow box in solid Swedish pine with a 15 mm (0.6 in) face and 30 mm (1.2 in) depth.
- Archival Integrity: Strictly acid-free components—from mounting adhesives to sealing tapes—to ensure long-term structural stability.
Technical Proportions
To maintain visual balance, internal margins (mats) are weighted based on the artwork's dimensions. For a standard large-format work, the proportions follow this logic:
- Face Width: 15 mm (0.6 in)
- Frame Depth: 30 mm (1.2 in)
- Standard Margins: 35–45 mm (1.4–1.8 in) at the sides and top; 45–55 mm (1.8–2.2 in) at the bottom.
Note: Total external dimensions vary by print size but maintain the same proportional face and depth for consistency across a collection.
