Swedish Pine & Hand-cut Glass

The frames we use are customised to size and locally handmade. The structures are built from solid Swedish pine (furu); a stable, light wood chosen for its rigidity and even grain.

Sizing chart

Flush Mount

A traditional gallery-style configuration where the artwork is mounted directly against the glass. This creates a stable, low-profile presentation.

  • Mounting: Flush mount (no air gap between print and glass).
  • Glass: 2 mm float glass.
  • Construction: Solid Swedish pine with a 15 mm (0.6 in) face and a 30 mm (1.2 in) depth.
  • Archival Integrity: Assembled using acid-free adhesives and pH-neutral materials.
  • Frame size: 29 × 43 cm (11.4 × 16.9 in) and 43 × 65 cm (16.9 × 25.6 in)

Float Premium

A museum-grade configuration where the print sits raised from the backing. This allows the paper edges to cast a shadow and creates a three-dimensional depth within the frame.

  • Mounting: Professional float mount (3D shadow effect).
  • Glass: Museum Glass. 2 mm hand-cut, UV-resistant, non-glare art glass. Protects the surface while maintaining absolute optical clarity and reducing reflections.
  • Construction: Deep-profile shadow box in solid Swedish pine with a 15 mm (0.6 in) face and 30 mm (1.2 in) depth.
  • Archival Integrity: Strictly acid-free components—from mounting adhesives to sealing tapes—to ensure long-term structural stability.

Technical Proportions

To maintain visual balance, internal margins (mats) are weighted based on the artwork's dimensions. For a standard large-format work, the proportions follow this logic:

  • Face Width: 15 mm (0.6 in)
  • Frame Depth: 30 mm (1.2 in)
  • Standard Margins: 35–45 mm (1.4–1.8 in) at the sides and top; 45–55 mm (1.8–2.2 in) at the bottom.
  • Frame sizes: 37.5 × 51 cm (14.8 × 20.1 in) and 52 × 70.5 cm (20.5 × 27.8 in)

Bird first showed at the "Reality Does Not Impress Me" exhibition in London 2023. Perhaps people recognized some of themselves in her fragile balance; safe yet so close to disaster.

Over time, Bird has evolved into a symbol of equilibrium and serenity. In times of noise and complexity, it represents the purity of peace, the virtue of objectivity, and the embrace of diverse perspectives.

Bird was originally released as a hand-embellished unique and as a limited edition in three size tiers.

At the end of 2025, all current limited editions came to a final close so production could come home to the atelier in Stockholm.

Bird now returns as an open edition in two formats, A3 (297×420mm) and A2 (420×594mm), printed on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm fine art paper. Hand-signed and shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Hahnemühle German Etching
310 gsm, 100% α-cellulose
White
Clearly defined felt structure
Acid- and lignin-free
ISO 9706 conform / museum quality for highest age resistance

Please note that digital screens cannot perfectly replicate physical pigments; the print itself is the definitive reference for color and texture. Subtle variations in character are inherent.

Caring for Your Hahnemühle German Etching Print

This artwork is printed on 310 gsm Hahnemühle German Etching paper. Made from 100% α-cellulose, it features a beautiful, tactile felt texture that gives the print wonderful visual depth. It is also museum-quality and acid-free, meaning it’s built to last a lifetime.

Here are a few simple suggestions to help you handle and frame your new piece:

Unpacking & Handling

  • Handling the paper: The textured matte surface can sometimes pick up natural oils from your hands. To keep the image pristine, it's best to lift and hold the print by the unprinted white borders.
  • Keep it clean: If you have clean cotton gloves handy, feel free to use them! If not, just make sure your hands are clean and dry before unpacking.

Flattening the Print

Because this paper is quite thick and heavyweight, it will naturally want to stay curled after traveling in its shipping tube. It just needs a little time to relax before framing.

  • Unroll: Gently unroll the print onto a clean, flat surface.
  • Protect: Keep the included tissue paper draped over the artwork to keep dust off.
  • Weight it down: Place clean, flat, heavy objects (like large books) on the corners to gently press the paper flat.
  • Let it rest: Leave it to settle for a day or two. Giving it time to relax naturally will make framing easier.

Framing Suggestions

If you are working with a local framer, here are a few recommendations to achieve our atelier’s signature look:

  • Use a spacer: Ask your framer for a "spacer" mount. This creates a small physical gap between the glass and the artwork, preventing the textured paper from pressing flat against the glass. It allows the beautiful felt structure to cast subtle, natural shadows.
  • Frame style: A simple wood profile (we love a 15 mm face and 30 mm depth) frames the work beautifully without overpowering it.
  • Glass: Anti-reflective glass with UV protection (such as Artglas) is a fantastic choice. It cuts down on glare so you can truly appreciate the paper's texture, and it helps protect the pigments from fading in the sunlight.
  • Materials: Simply ask your framer to use acid-free backing boards and tapes to keep the paper healthy over the years.

General Care

  • Keep it dry: Avoid using liquids, damp cloths, or cleaning sprays near the unglassed print, as water can easily spot the paper.
  • Dusting: If the print needs a quick dusting before it goes into the frame, a very light sweep with a soft, clean brush will do the trick perfectly.
